Moving the big Shaker Heights homes
Shaker Heights is a different kind of move than the West Side, and we crew it differently. The homes here are large — center-hall colonials, brick Tudors, and English-style four-squares set back on deep lots along the rapid line and the boulevards. More rooms, more stairs, more antiques and full china cabinets, and often a third floor that was never meant to be emptied. Russ still runs the bigger Shaker jobs himself, and we send a crew sized to clear a four-bed in a day, not stretch it to two.
Center-hall colonials and three floors
A typical Shaker colonial has a grand center staircase, a finished third floor, and a full basement, which means a lot of vertical carrying. We protect the hardwood and the stair runner with pads and floor runners before anything moves, take the big armoires apart where they were built to come apart, and label every room so it lands where it belongs in the new house. The crew chief walks the whole house first and sets the order so nobody is doubling back.
Antiques, china, and the long move
Shaker homes are full of pieces that have been in the family a long time — a dining set, a curio of china, a marble-top dresser. We pad-wrap and crate what needs it, and our full-pack crew boxes the kitchen and china right so nothing rattles. A lot of these are longer moves too, out to Florida for the winter or down to Columbus, and we price those on real miles and hold the written figure.
One written flat rate, no games
