Tremont is one of the toughest neighborhoods in Cleveland to move, and we say that as a compliment to the place. The streets are tight, the row houses and worker cottages sit shoulder to shoulder, and half of them are perched on the slope down toward the flats and the Cuyahoga. Add the restaurant traffic around Professor Avenue and Lincoln Park and you have a neighborhood where the moving plan matters more than the muscle. We bring both, and our own crew, never day-labor.
Row houses and three-deep parking
Most Tremont homes have a postage-stamp lot or none, so the truck parks on a narrow street and the crew carries. We measure the carry before we quote it, because a long carry up a Tremont sidewalk is real work and we are not going to surprise you with it on the bill. Where the street is hopeless we run a shuttle from a legal spot and keep the big truck out of the way.
The slope and the stairs
A lot of these houses drop a full story in back, so what looks like a first-floor move is really a haul up an exterior stair or down into a tuck-under garage. Our chiefs read the grade first. We pad the doorways on the old cottages because the original trim is irreplaceable, and we get pianos and heavy dressers down the outside stairs on rollers instead of muscling them through a 28-inch interior door.
